Phonics at Copley - Little Wandle

Little Wandle Letters and Sounds Revised is a complete systematic synthetic phonics programme (SSP) developed for schools by schools. Based on the original Letters and Sounds, but extensively revised to provide a complete teaching programme meeting all the expectations of the National Curriculum, the Ofsted Deep Dive into reading and preparing your children to go beyond the expectations of the Phonics Screening Check.

At Copley, we use Little Wandle Letters and Sounds to support pupils who continue to develop their phonics skills. Below are some resources, including teaching videos, which will help you to support your child with their learning.

Using assessment information, teachers identify the specific areas where pupils need to consolidate their knowledge. This is used as a starting point for phonics teaching and 'keep up' intervention. The chart below outlines the programme progression so that you are able to see the learning journey.
